Mike Marsal Racing moves to third in SCORE championship points standings

21 June 2024—Mike Marsal Racing and Spy+ Optics have moved to sit third in the SCORE Off-Road Championship Trophy Truck Spec points standings at the halfway point of the season.

The SCORE championship is one of the toughest in motorsports, with the drivers, navigators, and support crews racing through thousands of miles of off-road challenges over the course of the four-race championship.

Spy+ Optics No. 236 Driver Mike Marsal and navigator Hudson Hall started the season off with a fifth place finish at the San Felipe 250 in March. Most recently the duo was joined by driver Jack Grabowski and navigator Matt Martinez to finish fourth in the Baja 500 in June.

The move up in the championship standings comes from some great fightback from the Spy+ Optics squad.

In the first race of the season at San Felipe, the Evan Weller Racing-prepped No. 236 Spy+ Optics Brenthel Trophy Truck Spec entry got off to a flying start, but at the 160 mile marker, the team encountered a double flat tire. Marsal and Hall were quick to change both tires and get back out on course. The duo finished the race with the fifth fastest lap time.

The second race of the season was the Baja 500, which doubled the distance of the San Felipe 250. Marsal and Hall set the 16th fastest lap in a single lap qualifying session. The duo then started the 486 mile race driving a flawless stint to the halfway mark. Grabowski and Martinez brought the No. 236 machine across the finish line with the fourth fastest lap after a brief slow down with a flat tire.

“Our goal is to continue to improve every time out, and the whole team has been putting in so much work to have the Spy+ Optics truck ready to go to the finish,” said Mike Marsal. “The double-flat was a big setback, but we all rallied and got to the finish so now we just want to make the most of these last two rounds and see where we are in the standings. We’ve got some testing planned and are already working to be ready to go in Baja.”

The SCORE Baja 400 is next for the Mike Marsal Racing and Spy+ Optics team. The team is on a three month hiatus until the September 15th race.
